boog on Under The Radar

Tonight at 5 PM the Under The Radar program at Temple WHIP Radio had my friend, boog, perform a small live set in the studio. This brightened up my rainy day. Hear the posted set at the Under The Radar podcast here.

boog's new demo: five tracks by boog on his own four-track mixer. Hear it here.

Kyle Simmons is boog. He is a sophomore at Temple University and he's been making music music since he was young. He was inspired to make music by his father who gave him his understated nickname, boog. He's been performing in the Philadelphia and Phoenixville areas since he was in high school. He's been described as the "bastard child of the Philadelphia folk scene" and the musical child of "Nick Cave and Elvis Costello." boog recently completed a demo which he's essentially put together himself with the help of a few friends.

You can stream the Under The Radar session today on WHIP's website at www.temple.edu/whip. I do not know how long it takes them to get the recorded session online... I should have recorded this session while it was streaming today, but I was halfway through the show when the thought crossed my mind. (October 30 edit: The boog set is online now at http://www.gcast.com/u/undertheradarWHIP/main)

Check out boog's music on his myspace page at www.myspace.com/boogisback

boog will be performing with The Boxcar Children (formerly The Noble Womanizers) on Saturday at the Temple Founder's Head Garden at from 3 PM to 5 PM.
